Weather wearing on old systems
WESTVILLE -- This never-ending winter is wreaking all sorts of havoc for area communities. As of Thursday, 19 water main breaks have happened in the village. Gas & Water Superintendent Michael Bennett says he's been there nearly 30 years and this is the worst it's ever been. He says the system was built in 1928 and just can't handle the stress it's been under the past few months. Bennett says all of the problems will likely lead to a water rate hike for customers in the near future.
