"Work & Learn" Comes to Lake Land

MATTOON -- A new program at Lake Land College is designed to provide work experience and financial support for adults who are un- or under-employed to earn career certificates or associate degrees.
    The Work and Learn Program (WLP) is for people who are finding it hard to return or finish their educations because of financial hardships. Students will take college classes and earn a tuition waiver by working 10-hours a week in various campus departments. Students will also develop ongoing mentor relationships.
    The program will be monitored to evaluate its success and impact on students and the community. Up to 20-WLP positions are being developed during its pilot year.

* Residence in Lake Land College District
* 24-yrs old or older
* Earned high school diploma or GED
* No more than 11-hours college credit after high school
* Submit Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Foundation Scholarship Application
