TOLONO -- When students are applying for college, there's one questions a lot of parents want answered. A workshop in Central Illinois could help you figure out how to pay for your child's higher education.

The new state program kicked off Monday night at Unity High School. It was free of charge. There are so many steps on the path to financial aid and scholarships. The workshop helps families get the ball rolling.

Unity High was packed. An instructor went through steps on how to start a FAFSA, the differences between federal, state and private sources of financial aid, and deadlines parents need to keep in mind. Some even stated applications at the workshop. Some parents had no idea where to start.

Governor Quinn's office started the workshop for Financial Aid Awareness Month. If you missed Monday night's workshop, it's being held at Centennial, Tuesday, from 6 - 8 pm, and Parkland, Wednesday, from 6 - 8 pm.
