Keller Realty donated $59,000 to the cause Tuesday. Workers there raised the money at a Cash-Bash event earlier this year. The money will go toward the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education.
Keller-Williams has a goal of $200,000 for the cause during the next few years. The group is more than a fourth the way there. Workers say they're happy to keep the money local.
Representatives with UI say they're grateful to have such a supportive community. The new center will be built in the 900-block of Nevada Street on the UI campus. It's just an empty lot now, but university reps say they plan to have it ready for students by 2015.
The UI was the first fully-accessible college campus. The dean says this will be the next chapter for disabled vets who come here.
