East Peoria blanks Rochester in semifinals

Raiders continue shutout streak, still haven't allowed a run in playoffs

EAST PEORIA -- Rochester softball couldn't get a run across and gave up four to the host East Peoria Raiders in the Class 3A softball semifinals Friday morning.  It's the sixth straight playoff game the Raiders have held opponents scoreless.

"She's really darn good," Rochester head coach Lindsay Howard said about East Peoria pitcher Alyssa Graves.  "She's the best pitcher we've seen all year.  She throws it hard but yet she also has movement so she does a very nice job.

"They have power hitters up and down their lineup and to battle through that and keep pitching and make plays when we had chances for them to score more runs and battle through, I was very proud of the girls."

Rochester will face Nazareth Academy in the Class 3A third place game Saturday morning at 10 a.m.
