"We're going to have a lot of guys play both ways," said head coach Mike Allen. "The thing that we lost from last year's team is leadership. Ross Royal, Austin Hornstein, Austin Rosenbaum, Drake Royal - they proved great leadership. We're waiting for someone to step up and take that this year, and I think that's one of the keys for someone just to take control of the team and push each other in practice and the weight room."
The Falcons will feature several two-way players this season. It's a key they hope will help them reach the playoffs for the 10th time in 11 seasons.
"It's always a push to take it deep into the playoffs," said senior quarterback Tyler Hinshaw. "That's a goal for every team is to go as far as you can and be the best that you can."
GCMS opens Friday night against LeRoy.
