Maroa-Forsyth set for another state title game

Trojans making fifth appearance in last 10 years, 111-20 record in that time

MAROA (WCIA) -- There's consistency and then there's the Maroa-Forsyth football team. The Trojans have been one of the state's best teams the past decade. They'll make their fifth appearance in the finals in the past 10 years Friday afternoon  at 1 p.m. when they face Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley (13-0) in DeKalb.

The Trojans (12-1) have come a long way since getting blown out by Williamsville back in Week 3.

"At the beginning of the year a lot of people didn't think we were going to make it that far with Williamsville Week 3 and that big loss that we took but the real turning point was around PORTA when we really started to get our stuff together," Maroa-Forsyth senior lineman Brandon Goede said. "And then Athens came and that's a testament to how much we've changed since Week 3."

"You know I literally feel like we've gotten better every week of the season and we've continued that all the way through the playoffs," Maroa-Forsyth head coach Josh Jostes said. "Our quarterback has grown up, our offensive line play has been better, those are the two biggest things that standout to me."
