DANVILLE - Trent Sherfield, a rising senior quarterback at Danville High School, picked up his third Big Ten offer today - this one from Purdue.  Sherfield told WCIA 3's Austin Kim that the Boilers are now at the top of his list.  Sherfield says he loves the coaching staff and believes in the direction the program is headed.

Purdue joins Illinois and Indiana among Big Ten schools to have offered him.  Northern Illinois has also offered.  The three Big Ten schools are recruiting Sherfield as a defensive back.  Northern Illinois and Illinois State are considering Sherfield as a quarterback.

Sherfield picked up the Purdue offer during a visit to West Lafayette today.  He plans to visit Vanderbilt next week, then Cincinnati, followed by Missouri.  Sherfield says Illinois is still very much in the mix.  He keeps in regular contact with Illinois assistant coach, and Danville native, Greg Colby.

Sherfield says he will trim his list to five after this summer, and he plans to make a final decision after football season.
