DANVILLE, Ill. - If James Franklin leaves Vanderbilt to become the new head coach at Penn State - as many expect - Danville safety Trent Sherfield says he will re-open his recruitment.  Sherfield committed to Vanderbilt in July but hasn't signed yet.

Sherfield told WCIA 3's Matt Wettersten he will consider the other schools that originally offered him.  That list includes Illinois, Purdue and Indiana.
Sherfield is a four-star recruit, who does have a close relationship with Illinois defensive lien coach - and Danville-native - Greg Colby.
