Teutopolis to play for state title

Shoes short game Orion 11-0 in five innings

PEORIA (WCIA) -- The Teutopolis baseball team beat Orion 11-0 in five innings Friday night at Dozer Park to advance to Saturday's Class 2A state championship game.  The Shoes will take on St. Joseph-Ogden at 5 p.m. after the Spartans took care of Chicago Christian 5-2 in the other semifinal game.

"Whenever you're able to put runs up on the board in the top of the first, especially five of them, I think it allows your pitcher to relax and I think it allows your hitters to relax the rest of the ballgame and stay focused on what the task is at hand, is to keep scoring more runs," Teutopolis head coach Justin Fleener said.

"That's big, confidence goes from down here I mean it rises real in a hurry when you get that 5-0 right out of the first inning," Teutopolis senior Brock Beuker said.  "It's great to see our batters putting the bat on the ball, even though some were walks we still took advantage of the walks and got the hits when we needed them."
