Dan Hartleb notches career win #400

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- With a 10-4 win over Rutgers on Sunday, Illinois baseball coach Dan Hartleb became the 3rd coach in Illini history to reach the 400 win mark.

The win puts his career record at 400-289-1 in 12 plus seasons at the helm. He's quick to put the credit on others when asked what the milestone means.

"We had a lot of people that sacrificed a lot to build the program, and a lot of hard work," he said. "Then in 2015 to be able to set some records with a great group of people, that was a fun year. Now it's nice to build this situation again where we're competing at the national level, that's something that I want to do on a yearly basis and I think we've made progress there. So you look at where we were 13 years ago and where we are now, I think we've really made some improvements."

Illinois host Valparaiso on Tuesday, then welcomes Grand Canyon this weekend for a three game series.
