Flu bug hits Illini

Several Illinois men's basketball players fighting flu ahead of Iowa game

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- Several Illinois men's basketball players, coaches, even support staffers are fighting the flu bug in the worst way. The sickness is making its rounds and has been for more than a week. Leron Black only played 20 minutes, scoring seven points at Michigan on Saturday. He saw a doctor in Minneapolis before the Illini played the Golden Gophers.

"We've had a wide spectrum of guys out, literally since Minnesota," Illinois head coach Brad Underwood said. "You know (Mark) Alstork was throwing up before the Michigan game and tried to play, so we've had it run through our whole team."

Illinois hosts Iowa Thursday night at 7 p.m. in a battle of two 0-fer teams in the Big Ten Conference. The Illini are 0-4 in league play, the Hawkeyes are 0-5.
