Illinois will take a seven-game losing streak into Tuesday's game against Wisconsin. Through it all, Groce is staying positive, and he is keeping the message to his players simple.
"We're going to do something special here," Groce said. "It's going to happen. It's not a matter of 'if,' it's 'when.' We just have to stay the course."
Illinois has fallen to last place to last place in the Big Ten during this month-long losing streak, but Groce emphasizes the attitude is just as important as the results right now.
"The important thing to me is that we continue to develop a winning culture," Groce added. "Obviously we're not there yet, and sometimes you have to go through adversity and be dealt cards that you have to learn how to handle. Our guys have handled that very, very well, and I think at the end of the day it's going to make us a lot stronger."
Illinois hosts Wisconsin Tuesday night at 8:00 pm (BTN) at State Farm Center.
