URBANA -- The Illinois soccer team will play its Big Ten opener Friday afternoon at Ohio State.  That game will be a rematch of last year's Big Ten Tournament championship, which was won by the Buckeyes.

If you like scoring, you're going to like this Illinois team.  They lead the Big Ten in scoring with 3.5 goals per game.  The problem: they've allowed the most goals in the league as well.

"We went through a roller coaster ride of trying to find out exactly what was going to work for us and trying to establish a defensive mentality," said head coach Janet Rayfield.  "We've certainly come a long way from where we were at the beginning, and through that we have stayed pretty consistent with our goal-scoring, and that has been a great thing."

Illinois (5-2-1) visits Ohio State Friday at 4:00 pm CT.
