CHAMPAIGN -- People who subscribe to the UI's alert system were surprised it wasn't used last weekend. The university's bomb squad was called to campustown Saturday afternoon.

A piece of luggage was left unattended near Sixth and Green streets. Campus police say an alert wasn't issued because the luggage wasn't considered a threat. A bomb sniffing dog determined the bag didn't have explosives inside.
