CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- The Illinois men's tennis team is on to the Sweet 16 once again, after sweeping Vanderbilt 4-0 on Sunday.
The Illini came back to take the doubles point, clinched by Aron Hiltzik and Aleks Kovacevic.
Zeke Clark, Kovacevic, and Aleks Vukic made quick work of the Commodores to clinch the victory.
"So many emotions going on with graduation and a special senior class and Mother's Day weekend and then our guys were really tough and that to me is probably the most exciting thing," head coach Brad Dancer said. "I think how we came out really tough in doubles, really resilient and I just though we were gritty all weekend long."
"We were so tough. We were so tough," Vukic added. "I think we were down in all three courts in doubles and managed to take that out and I think that kind of set the tone for singles and we came out firing and maybe only dropped one set there and even AB was battling over there so everyone was so tough and I couldn't ask for a better performance."
The Illini move on to the Winston-Salem regional where they play TCU at 3:00 p.m. Friday. The Illini beat the Horned Frogs 5-2 at home on March 2nd.
