Illini staying on the road

Team heading straight from Minneapolis to Ann Arbor

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- Illinois Men's Basketball's return to Big Ten play didn't quite play out the way the team had hoped.

The Illini dropped Wednesday night's game to Minnesota 77-67. They are now 0-3 in conference play, and things aren't slowing.

Illinois will stay in Minneapolis until Friday before they head to Ann Arbor for their Saturday matchup against Michigan. It's a long road trip that the Illini said hope helps to focus the team.

"We've learned a lot of our mistakes on why we lost those games," freshman guard Trent Frazier said. "We're really focusing on sitting down and guarding and executing our offense better."

"I think it's honestly better for us just being able to stay out there, stay away from everything else and just focus on us and basketball, get better by staying out there a couple extra days instead of coming home," junior forward Michael Finke said.

Saturday's game against Michigan will air on the Big Ten Network with tip off set for 11 a.m.
