CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- It's the final weekend in the illustrious career of Illinois wrestler Isaiah Martinez. The senior, along with four fellow wrestlers, will compete at the NCAA national championships in Cleveland starting Thursday.
125: Travis Piotrowski
133: Dylan Duncan
141: Mike Carr
165: Isaiah Martinez
184: Emory Parker
It's the first nationals appearance for Duncan and Carr, second for Piotrowski and Parker, and fourth for Martinez.
"I feel great. I feel confident. I feel like I deserve to win, so everything is going well," Martinez said. "It's my last one but just focusing what I've always focused on. Just trying to get the most out of myself just like any other national championship. The goal is to be a national champ, so I'm excited."
"Pretty good, just going out there and trying to make it a shootout," Carr added. "Score as many points as I can. I'm really good on my feet, maybe a little bit better getting off the bottom and a little bit better riding but I've been wrestling really well on my feet so I'm going to try and keep the matches there."
Competition starts Thursday in Cleveland.
