Illinois Football Early Signing Day Class of 2018

Illini sign majority of recruits in early period including 10 from Florida

WCIA -- For the first time in NCAA history, there's an early signing period for football and Illinois is taking full advantage. Fifteen players signed their National Letter of Intent during the opening day of the period that runs through Dec. 22.

The entire class so far is from just four different states, Florida (10), Texas (3), Illinois (1) and California (1). Nine of those players are on offense, seven defensive guys. It's still early and a lot will likely change but as of right now this is the 62nd ranked class in the country, 14th in the Big Ten. The only 4-star player on the board is Bishop Dunne defensive tackle Calvin Avery. There are 13 three-star players and two players with no ranking according to 247sports.
