Nation, McGriff leaving Illini football program

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- The Illinois football team have a couple more open scholarships after running back Tre Nation and wide receiver MJ McGriff left the program.

Nation ran for 59 yards on 11 carries in his freshman season. McGriff suffered an injury during fall camp that prevented him from seeing the field.

Both players committed to Illinois when Bill Cubit was still the head coach.
