CHAMPAIGN -- Illinois' defensive struggles on the football field continue.  In fact they rank among the worst in the Big Ten in almost every major defensive category - and the results haven't gotten any better as the season has gone along.

In the last six games Illinois' opponents have scored an average of 45.5 points per game.  Head coach Tim Beckman says don't judge by the numbers alone; he says they are getting better.

"You just look at the numbers, and of course it's not anywhere we want to be," Beckman said.  "We played pretty good for 2.5 quarters, better than Ohio State, but to be a great team defense, we have to play four quarters."

Illinois visits Purdue Saturday at 11:00 a.m. on BTN.
