Players, Walker talk Underwood hire

CHAMPAIGN -- For the first time, players and coaches spoke about the new Illinois men's basketball coach Brad Underwood.

"From what I've heard so fars it's a stretch offense, spread the floor, which me personall, I like, go out and shoot 3s. They like to play quick. Saw an interview where he said he likes to shoot the ball in the first 7 seconds, which I think is great to get going," Michael Finke said. "I like how they play on the defensive end, intensity, play hard, I think they deny too and looks like a lot of fun."

"Brad's teams are tough, they're hard nosed. He's a Kansas boy, we've got some tough guys there," interim head coach Jamall Walker added. "But seriously, his teams are tough, they play a fun style, they're aggressive on both ends of the floor. He runs a lot of pick and roll stuff, and it starts with his pinch post, what I like to call wheel actions. Bright coach with a bright future."
