Shorthanded Illini women fall to MSU

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - Star freshman Jacqui Grant was held out of the lineup with mono, and the shorthanded Illini women couldn't overcome her absence in a 69-53 loss to No. 24 Michigan State Wednesday night at State Farm Center.  Ivory Crawford led the way with 20 points for Illinois (9-14, 2-8)

Meanwhile, the No. 22 Illinois men's tennis team rallied for an upset win over No. 16 Notre Dame at Atkins Tennis Center.  Illinois lost the double point, but then got five singles wins from No. 4 Jared Hiltzik, No. 106 Farris Gosea, No. 46 Tim Kopinski, Blaze Bazarnik and Ross Guignon.  Illinois improves to 3-2 on the season.
