CHICAGO -- Illinois head coach John Groce is proving he can pull some of the best talent out of the city of Chicago.  In his short time, Groce has landed Kendrick Nunn, Jaylon Tate and now D.J. Williams - all from Simeon High School.

Simeon head coach Robert Smith says it is important that Chicago kids play for their home state school, and he thinks Groce and his staff are changing the perception of Illinois hoops in the Windy City.

"There are up-and-down, mixed opinions about [Illinois basketball]," Smith said.  "Hopefully it can all change and go into a positive atmosphere.  Coach Groce is doing a great job, and I think that should be looked at very heavily between the coaches here in Chicago - the success they've had in one year, and where I think they'll be this year."
