URBANA, Ill. (UI Release)  - On Wednesday night, the NCAA Division I men's tennis subcommittee announced Jared Hiltzik and Farris Gosea to the upcoming NCAA singles tournament, while the team of Tim Kopinski and Ross Guignon will be representing the Illini in the doubles tournament. Hiltzik, Kopinski and Guignon all received All-American honors for the first time in their careers after earning a ranked seed in their respective tournaments. The trio become the 25th, 26th and 27th All-Americans in Illinois history and will compete in their second straight singles/doubles tournaments.

Hiltzik was awarded All-American status after garnering the No. 8 overall seed in the singles tournament and earned the Big Ten automatic berth for being the highest ranked player in the conference. Hiltzik enters the postseason on a nine match winning streak and fresh off of victory over then ranked No. 7 Peter Kobelt of Ohio State.

Hiltzik will joined by fellow teammate and Big Ten Player of the Year Farris Gosea, who was an at-large selection. Gosea just missed the All-American cut by two spots with his No. 18 national ranking. Gosea leads the Illini with 23 dual match victories and has not lost since March 17.

Kopinski and Guignon were tabbed with the 5-8 seed on the doubles side of the tournament, becoming the first doubles All-Americans since Kevin Anderson and Ryan Rowe in 2007. The duo are 15-5 in dual matches and went 8-1 in Big Ten play. They are 7-3 in their last ten and went 5-2 against top-30 ranked doubles teams. In addition, Kopinski could eventually find his way into the singles draw as well, as the 63rd ranked player in the country is listed as the fourth alternate.

The singles and doubles competition will occur May 21-26 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens, Ga., following the conclusion of the team championships. All matches shall be best-of-three sets. Regular scoring and a 12-point tiebreaker at six games-all will be used for all matches.
