Trip to Charleston "good" for Illini Basketball

CHAMPAIGN (WCIA) -- Illinois Men's Basketball will face Eastern Illinois Friday night in a charity exhibition game.

The soldout match is the programs' seventh all-time meeting. All proceeds will go to the Red Cross' hurricane relief efforts. The Illini have already played two closed scrimmages against Indiana State and Vanderbilt.

Although Friday's game will not go on the record books, head coach Brad Underwood said he's excited for the trip to Charleston.

"It's a great thing for our basketball team at this point, and it's exciting," Underwood said. "I look at it as an opportunity not just to get our players under the bright lights and get them in front of the fans, but also as an opportunity to go some place, to be very honest, that we're never going to go in the regular season."

"That'll be good for us and I think it'll be good for our freshmen too, to get out there and play in front of fans," junior forward Michael Finke said.

Tip-off for Friday's game is set for 7 p.m. at Lantz Arena.
