CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - During camp we heard a lot about the freshman wide receivers for the Illinois football team, especially Malik Turner and Mikey Dudek.  They got their first taste of game action Saturday against Youngstown State, and it's not a stretch to say Illinois might not have won without them.

They got off to a slow start after Dudek dropped a touchdown pass, but they settled in after that.  Dudek redeemed himself with a touchdown catch on the same drive.  Turner caught a 20-yard pass on third and 18 to keep Illinois' last scoring drive alive.  In all, Turner and Dudek caught seven passes for 103 yards.

"I think they came in and responded," said head coach Tim Beckman.  "Mike will be the first one after saying the drop, but boy he came back and responded.  And then Malik makes a big third down catch for us.  So they're getting there.  They're not there yet, but they're getting there."
