COLUMBIA, Mo. - Four-star point guard Jimmy Whitt says he will visit Illinois this weekend, just a day after he listed the Illini among his final nine schools.  The Columbia, Mo. (Hickman H.S.) standout is ranked among the Top 60 players in the country.  He is also considering Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Marquette and others.  There's a lot for Whitt to like about Illinois.  They need a point guard in the 2015 class, and he also likes what he sees in John Groce and his system.

"I really like the coach and his style of play," Whitt said Thursday.  "It's a high guard place.  You go there, they really utilize their guards well coming off ball screens.  I think that's one of my strengths is using the high ball screen and side ball screen, and I think that's really something interesting to look into - just imagining myself in a guard-oriented offense.

Whitt says he plans to make a decision this fall before his season starts.  He says the factors he values most are academics, coaching staff and style of play.
