DANVILLE (WCIA) -- The Danville Dans baseball team is nearly a third of the way through its season.
This year's roster once again boasts players from all over the country, as well as two locals.
Former Central Maroon Alec Barger joins former St. Joseph-Ogden Spartan Clayton Slifer in Danville. Barger just finished his first season with Northern Illinois while Slifer is transferring to Eastern Illinois after spending two seasons at Lake Land College. Both players say it's special being so close to home.
"It's pretty cool because I've grown up here," Barger said. "I've played here before and now to actually be able to play for the Dans is a pretty cool experience."
"When I was younger there was a group of dads who would get us tickets for little league and we'd come here and watch games," Slifer said. "We'd be those little guys who go out on the field and get autographs. We thought it was pretty cool."
