Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo returned to Charleston Tuesday morning with his Walter Payton Award in-hand. Monday night Garoppolo was named the best FCS football player in America, and Tuesday he talked with WCIA 3's Matt Wettersten about shifting his focus now to his future in the NFL.

Eastern Illinois quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo is taking home the highest award an FCS football player can win. Garoppolo was named the winner of the Walter Payton Award Monday night, also known as the "Heisman of the FCS."
The Big 12 conference is expanding by four schools. The Peoria District 150 school board voted Monday night to send Peoria High, Manual and Richwoods to the Big 12. They will enter the league alongside Peoria Notre Dame, which had previously reached an agreement to join the conference.
After being the main catalyst of a 20-point comeback performance last week vs. Seton Hall, the conference named Illini senior Amber Moore Big Ten player of the week. Moore scored a game high 24 points in the last second 71-70 win over the Pirates, earning her second Big Ten Player of the week honor this season.
Eastern Illinois head football coach Dino Babers was the national runner-up for the Eddie Robinson FCS Coach of the Year Award announced by the Sports Network on Monday afternoon. The award will be presented to North Dakota State head coach Craig Bohl on Monday evening at the awards ceremony in Philadelphia.
