Hometown Hero knows his service isn't done

MONTICELLO -- An area man receives honors for his work as a veteran, but also as a large part of the community.
MONTICELLO -- An area man receives honors for his work as a veteran, but also as a large part of the community. James Cavanaugh has lived here for decades. He married here and raised six kids here. But, he also served Monticello along with the rest of the country.

He was a Marine who went to Korea to fight on the front lines. Now, he goes around to high schools and talks to history classes, telling them stories of a war he's happy to have made it through.

Cavanaugh and several other veterans were honored by the high school for Veterans Day. He says they also get many thank you letters for their service in both battle and the community.
