Many times, you can find Dr. Nick Osbourne in the UI's veteran lounge. His military background helps him understand the students who come here.
Osbourne was in the Coast Guard and served overseas. Now, he's the Director of Veterans Programs, making sure other people on campus understand this small group and all they've been through.
"Giving them more skills about military mannerisms. There may be a reason a student in the class has to sit in back."
Osbourne is also the Interim Director of the building which will soon be here; the Center for Wounded Veterans in Higher Education. It's a place veterans can come get help.
Of the 400 veterans on campus, Osbourne says about 25% have a disability. Many have wounds you can't see.
The Center for Wounded Veterans is scheduled to be finished in the fall of 2015.
