CHAMPAIGN -- Neighbors are terrified after an armed home invasion in broad daylight. Three men carrying guns and wearing ski masks forced their way into an apartment. It happened in the 2000-block of North Mattis. WCIA-3's Anthony Antoine talks to neighbors.

"I'm probably going to be scared. I probably won't sleep tonight."

Neighbors say it isn't the first time they've seen police at their apartment complex, but to have an armed robbery in the middle of the afternoon isn't something they ever expected. In fact, they're so shaken up, they don't want to go on camera.

"I was kind of terrified because I had four toddlers up in my apartment when it happened."

Just next door, her neighbors were being robbed. Three gunmen wearing masks got into the apartment, tied up two men inside and robbed them.

Someone heard the robbery taking place and called the main office at the apartment complex. When the employee went to investigate, the guns were turned on him and he too was held against his will. Neighbors say enough is enough.

"I don't feel safe at all."

She wants property managers to do something about it.

"They can fix our security doors for one. They can put cameras and have police officers patrol the area more often because we've had plenty of incidents happen out here. It's unsafe for children and even adults."

She's not alone.

"I'm probably going to be scared. I probably won't sleep tonight because my security door isn't fixed and anybody can walk in."

But, this even has left them with only one option.

"I am getting ready to move but, I just got to watch my surroundings more often."

"My lease will be up soon and, yes, I am leaving."

Police say the men fled the scene heading east on Bloomington Road. At least one got into a white, two-door vehicle near Bloomington and Cynthia. The suspects are described as black men in their 20's, wearing dark clothes and jeans.
