NATIONAL -- New research states being married may help improve your chances of surviving cancer. The study looked at more than 700,000 people diagnosed with the most deadly cancers.

Married people were more likely to detect the disease early, get potentially-curative treatments and live longer. Researchers also saw a 20% decrease in deaths for married patients compared to unmarried people.

The study showed unmarried patients were half as likely to get the appropriate therapies.
