Casting ballot is smooth sailing

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Voters say Tuesday was one of the easiest, quickest elections they've ever experienced with short lines, good service and quick voting. WCIA-3's Megan Brilley spent the day at polling places to find out if it was too good to be true.

A lot of simplicity at the polls had to do with the fact that nearly 20,000 people voted early in the county, so polling places weren't very congested. Voters say, what is usually a painful process was actually a breeze.

"How was the voting process for you today?"

"Outstanding, excellent."

It was a common theme at Meadowbrook Church as a steady flow of voters avoided long lines.

"I was amazed."

Haider Amin is reporting for a news station in Pakistan. He's doing a story about voting in U.S. elections.

"People are voting and there is no mass or anything. Everything is going good. It's new for us. It's totally different from Pakistan."

If you voted here, you got a cookie and drink along the way.

"We wanted to provide a treat for voters."

The church bought all of this out-of-pocket to make the process even smoother for voters.

"It's just a thing to be nice to people and they seem to really appreciate it."

The day was stress-free, but the room was filled with passionate voters.

"We have lots of issues we need to address."

All agree the on the most important thing which needs to change, "The economy is number one."

"The economy."

"One, the economy, the other is jobs."

It's a concern voters hope our next president listens to.

"I think it will be close."

"May the best person win."
