CWT raises awareness about domestic violence

CHAMPAIGN -- People here are standing up to domestic violence. With matching shirts, these women painted the town purple. They're from the Center for Women in Transition.

They want to let people know it's okay to talk about domestic violence within the community. R.A.C.E.S. (Rape Advocacy, Counseling, & Education Services) was also part of the campaign. October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

URBANA -- People hope to spread awareness about domestic violence. Friday, the Center for Women in Transition painted the town purple.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so they wore purple shirts to encourage others to talk about it. Leaders at the center say they want victims to know there is help.

To support the cause, the center is selling shirts. You can pick one up at their facility. All proceeds benefit the children.
