AG holding up union contract deal

SPRINGFIELD -- AFSCME members are heading back to the voting booth for a new contract.
SPRINGFIELD -- AFSCME members are heading back to the voting booth for a new contract. The union okayed the three year deal in March. Part of it included back-pay for promised raises the state never paid.

A court ruled the state has to make good on the increases, but now Attorney General Lisa Madigan is refusing to drop an appeal. It means thousands of workers could still lose that money.

AFSCME is waiting on lawmakers to set aside extra money for the raises. If they do, the stalled appeal won't matter.
