Area mayor looks to have statewide impact

DANVILLE -- Residents will be seeing less of their mayor around town.
DANVILLE -- Residents will be seeing less of their mayor around town. Mayor Scott Eisenhauer just accepted a big position he says will help the city. This weekend, he was elected president of the Illinois Municipal League.

It means a lot of traveling around the state, meeting with different leaders. But, he says his absence will not hurt the community. He says his staff has stepped up to the plate and taken on more responsibilities; plus he'll be connected 24/7 through his laptop and cellphone.

Eisenhauer says he'll work specifically for Danville when it comes to reducing long-term costs like pension benefits. The IML is a statewide organization representing more than 1,100 communities throughout the state.

Eisenhauer will be the voice of towns when it comes to legislative issues. His term officially started Sunday and runs for one year.
