Bulldogs ready for rematch with West

MAHOMET, Ill. - The Mahomet-Seymour girls soccer team is one win away from a spot in the elite eight, but to get there the Bulldogs will have to avenge a loss they suffered earlier this year at the hands of Normal West. Those two teams will square off Friday night in Normal with a trip to the supersectional on the line. Normal West beat Mahomet-Seymour 2-0 a little more than a month ago, but the Bulldogs are confident they can put that loss behind them and get revenge when it matters most.

"I'm really excited because they are one of the few teams that have beat us this year, and we're always up to the challenge," said senior goalkeeper Tori Rolson.  "I know we're going to come out strong.  We're going to play our game, and we want it really bad."

Normal West beat Mahomet-Seymour 2-0 a little more than a month ago, but the Bulldogs are confident they can put that loss behind them and get revenge when it matters most.

"We've watched some film, and we reviewed how they scored on us," said senior defender Lauren Longfellow.  "Our defense is prepared for them to come at us again, and our offense has worked on a lot of different passing combinations and shooting opportunities that we're hoping to try out."

Mahomet-Seymour has experience on its side.  They boast seven senior starters and team chemistry that will be hard to beat.

"We're all just going to try to stay together as a team during the game," said senior forward Catherine McHale.  "And there is probably going to be just as much heat as there was the other day, so we just have to be supportive and confident."
