An audition tape earned him a spot on one of the most famous stages in the world. Pierre Viallant is only a freshman. But he can call himself one of the best high school cellists in the country. The Champaign Central student sent in a tape to be part of the National Honors Orchestra.
He was one of 13 high school cellists chosen. Pierre will be performing with the orchestra next week at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He says he's super excited and couldn't believe he was picked, especially because of the audition tape he sent in.
Pierre will be in NYC for five days, rehearsing and sight-seeing. He says he's a little nervous playing with so many other great musicians, but he will have his family there watching for moral support.
