BLOOMINGTON -- This week's benefit to raise money for tornado relief was a huge success. Organizers say, so far, Wednesday's mega-concert raised $300,000.

Six big acts, including Champaign's own, REO Speedwagon, performed at U.S. Cellular Coliseum. Thousands of tornado victims got in for free.

The bands say it wasn't just about raising money; it was about boosting spirits.

BLOOMINGTON -- A concert was held Wednesday to benefit tornado victims. The performers actually toured devastation in Washington earlier in the day.

REO Speedwagon, a native-Champaign band, performed. They said the tornado victims left a lasting impression on them and they were thrilled to hold a concert in their honor.

It was free for tornado victims. The sold-out show brought in a packed house of 8,000 people.
