Council considers cost of road repairs

DECATUR -- City council members plan to talk road construction during Monday night's meeting.
DECATUR -- City council members plan to talk road construction during Monday night's meeting. Members are considering spending $1.4 million in state motor fuel tax dollars for improvement projects. It calls for asphalt resurfacing on three streets and affects just under four miles of roadways on portions of Oakland Avenue, Mound Road and Grand Avenue.

City leaders say the city has about 825 miles of roadway. The Public Works Department will likely address many of those miles this summer. As far as the project goes, work would have to be contracted out.
