CHAMPAIGN -- Ebertfest got underway Wednesday, but Thursday, it became official with a countdown. The unveiling of the Roger Ebert statue has been a year in the making.

Life-size and made of bronze, the name of the statue is "C-U at the Movies." It's described as "interactive art." Roger is giving his famous "thumbs up" sign and sitting between two empty theater seats where visitors can sit.

The sculptor says the piece wasn't easy to create. The statue will be a permanent fixture outside the Virginia Theatre.
