HOOPESTON -- The EPA is testing whether debris from the massive fire is hazardous. Smoke from the fire at J & R Tire Service carried debris as far as six blocks.

The EPA asks people to not touch any of it until results come back. After that, officials will know whether a cleaning crew needs to come in or if homeowners can do it themselves.

"It would just add a little burden to the clean up. It won't stop the cleanup. It could just possibly make it a little bit of a longer process if they find some areas they need to take some special precautions with," explained Mayor Bill Crusinberry.

The EPA is also checking air quality in the area, but so far everything has been clean.
