CHAMPAIGN -- He watched federal agents raid his business. Now, the owner of Gire Roofing is breaking his silence.

Wednesday, Homeland Security spent hours at Gire Roofing. The U.S. Attorney's Office hasn't filed charges. Ed Gire says the agents were looking for a man they thought was an employee at his company.

He handed over payroll records to the agents who interviewed all of his employees. Gire was never told the name of the man they were looking for. He says the agents spent a few hours at his business. According to Gire, the agents told him they didn't find anything and didn't plan on coming back.

Thursday was a regular business day at Gire Roofing. They're quoting jobs and fixing houses in Tuscola following the hail storm.

Wednesday, we told you about Gire's OSHA violation with fines of more than $100,000. Gire says all of it's been paid.

CHAMPAIGN -- It was anything but business as usual at one local company. Wednesday morning, federal agents showed up at Gire Roofing's warehouse at 309 West Hensley Road. Agents at the scene couldn't say what they were looking for.

About 15 showed up and were seen constantly walking in and out, but they were never seen carrying anything out with them. There was a truck driver there before the officers showed up. He says whatever was going on delayed him about an hour. The agents even checked his truck before letting him leave.

The U.S. Attorney's Office would not offer any comment. Calls to Gire Roofing are being answered by an answering service. OSHA says, since 2008, the company had seven inspections and seven violations; all dealing with the safety of workers at residential or commercial sites. The company was fined more than $100,000.
