URBANA -- The father of a UI football player was sentenced to a year of conditional discharge after admitting he resisted officers who were trying to remove him from a game earlier this year. 51-year old Nathan Creer, of Champaign, father of quarterback, Nathan Scheelhasse, pleaded guilty to misdemeanor resisting a peace officer.

He was arrested at a game, October 26, after being uncooperative with police who were trying to break up a fight. Creer, who police say was intoxicated, ended up banned from campus for a year.

The conditional discharge is a form of probation which does not involve reporting to a probation officer. Creer must also perform 100 hours of public service.

The state agreed not to use the misdemeanor arrest as grounds to revoke probation he received in April for criminal trespass to a residence.
