CENTRAL ILLINOIS- Every year the American Red Cross responds to almost 70,000 disasters in the country.
People in central Illinois know how important those volunteers are after tornadoes tore through the area in November.

Volunteers were called to Gifford to help provide food, water, and shelter to people who lost their homes.
However, to make sure the group can continue to respond, the organization needs you to give back.

The Red Cross Mid-Illinois Chapter sat down with WCIA 3's Cynthia Bruno on The Morning Show to explain why volunteers are vital to their mission.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for the Red Cross, contact Pam Tish, the Volunteer Coordinator at ( 217) 428-7758.
