GoPro puts students in the spotlight

TUSCOLA -- People are getting a new perspective about what it takes to be a student.
TUSCOLA -- People are getting a new perspective about what it takes to be a student. The district's technology director, Shannon Smith, got a GoPro camera for Christmas, so she decided to do a series of videos from the students' point-of-view. The kids wear the cameras on their head or chest to show what they see during the day.

"So many of our students are in multiple activities since we're in a small school," said Smith. "They have to be on the track team and in the musical and part of scholastic bowl and in the band. We want to make sure that people that don't get to experience those things have an opportunity to see what it's like."

Mostly high school students have been involved in filming so far, but Smith says she plans to branch out with younger students and staff as well. She says the project is all about putting kids in the spotlight.
