Group puts spin on polo

URBANA -- No horses were needed for a recent polo tournament, just bikes. Sunday was the first ever Champaign-Urbana Bike Polo Tournament. Eight teams tried to take home a first place trophy and other prizes. Money raised will go towards a C-U Bike Polo fund for future events.

"It's pretty exhilarating. I would say you get into a lot of close calls. You may hit them, you may crash them, but at the same time, when you score it feels so good. When you pass it to your teammates and they get the ball it's like, 'Yeah, this was an awesome play.' You got to try it," says player Florence Lin.

One of the directors of the event says people have been playing bike polo in the area for many years. Sunday was a beginners' tournament.
