CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- It's not always about winning. Sometimes a runner just wants to finish the race. Police escorted a smiling Kris Holtman across the finish line just before 3 pm Saturday.

Holtman ran for nearly eight hours. She says she feels lucky just to run.

"I am so pleased that you guys had it because of all the problems we've had in the last couple weeks and stuff," said Holtman, fresh from the finish line. "I was just blessed that you stuck to it."

This is Holtman's second marathon. She ran her first at the quad cities four years ago.
